Selling your home is hard. Not only are you packing and cleaning and hauling things away that you’ve been meaning to part with FOREVER, but you are also trying to hold together your life – work, kids soccer games, school functions, dinner with friends, finding time to work out and eat healthy…It is a lot! Realtors come in and hold your hand along the way. We help you to depersonalize and declutter your home. We call out the landscaper and the cleaner. Staging, photography, measurements, paperwork (the list goes on)…this is what we do. All of this happens before the house even goes on the market. Then we advertise, market, and showcase your home to the masses. We negotiate and tell your story. This process, while being incredibly difficult, can also be a moment in time that is cherished, if you’re lucky. You are selling a piece of real estate that has either housed the people in the world who are most important to you or been a place that has supported your income and helped you to achieve your financial goals. I strive to make this entire process more manageable but also make it a time where you can sit back and just be thankful that you are even able to sell the property at all.
Properties come to me in all kinds of conditions. Sellers come to me in a rainbow of circumstances. I pride myself in meeting you where you are and getting your home sold in a way that is manageable to you. Every transaction is different. The selling process is unique for every person. My approach is customized, tried and true.
I had a listing in a fantastic location when the market turned slower due to higher interest rates. The house was on a good sized lot and had a great floor plan but the inside needed a major overhaul. The home was a half a century old and it looked it – it was like stepping back in time as soon as you entered the front door. My seller wanted the very most money she could get for the house and she had time to wait for it. She didn’t need to sell the house in a day or a week or even a month. The most important thing to her was the cash she received for the home. So, the plan I came up with for her was to wait for that perfect buyer. There were dozens of buyers who wanted to walk through the home and figure out a way to buy it and flip it and make a little profit. I received several inquiries and offers from investors who declared the house was overpriced. Being an active Realtor who saw each and every home in that area when they hit the market, I knew, without a doubt, that we did not need to sell to an investor at a lower price. I knew it would just be a matter of time before we found that perfect buyer who was looking to buy a home to fix up for themselves. In only three weeks, that buyer came to us. They offered what we were looking for and purchased the home 30 days later.
I knew this buyer would come out of the woodwork because I have had buyers looking for this exact thing. Many buyers these days are looking for that home with ‘good bones’ that they can update and upgrade the way they want. These buyers are also very capable, very handy, and have a great eye!
As a seller agent, my work as a buyers agent is invaluable. One of the reasons I am successful as a listing agent is because I also work with buyers. I know what buyers are looking for in each and every market. It is a wisdom I bring to the table for my sellers. I know that, just like sellers, buyers are coming from different places in their lives with different perspectives and desires. Not all buyers are the same. Some require a move-in ready home. Some want a few projects to tackle when they move in, to make it feel like their own.
Selling a home is hard. Having an experienced Realtor on your side makes it easier, even a little enjoyable! I love my job because I get to work with people in every phase of their real estate journey. I enjoy helping folks figure out the best plan of action for their unique situation and execute that plan in a way that works best for them.
